When was the last time you took yourself on a date? And I don’t just mean grabbing a coffee on the go—I’m talking about a real, intentional date with you.

After some encouragement and a little nervous excitement, I recently decided to do just that. So often, we wait around for others to make plans, to invite us out, or to fill our time. But what about the joy of being alone, just for yourself? So, there I was, sitting alone at lunch, sipping my tea, and letting myself fully enjoy the moment.

If the thought of doing something solo feels intimidating, this one’s for you. Being comfortable with your own company is a game-changer. Taking yourself on a date is more than just a cute Instagram story; it’s about exploring who you are, what you love, and finding confidence in your independence. For some, solo time feels natural. For others, the idea of dining out, going to a movie, or even just taking a walk alone can feel daunting. But the more you practice, the more empowering it becomes.

Here’s my challenge for you: Pick a day, plan something just for yourself, and make it special. Maybe you take yourself out to your favorite spot, order exactly what you want, and don’t rush through it. Savor every moment, listen to your thoughts, and take it all in. Not only does this build confidence, but it also helps you get to know yourself on a deeper level. When you’re able to make yourself happy, you stop depending on others for validation or fulfillment.

A Few Tips for Solo Adventures:

1. Stay Aware: Solo outings are beautiful, but it’s essential to stay aware of your surroundings. Safety is key to enjoying your time alone.

2. Be Open to Spontaneity: Let yourself wander! Take in new sights, try that interesting dish, or dive into a book in a cozy cafe.

3. Embrace the Quiet: Don’t be afraid of silence. Some of your most profound reflections and creative thoughts come in those quiet, undistracted moments.

Once you become comfortable with being on your own, you’ll discover a unique kind of strength and resilience. You’ll realize that you are enough—that you’re capable of creating joy, peace, and fulfillment all on your own.

So, go ahead, plan a date with yourself. Whether it’s a coffee date, a walk in the park, or an entire day dedicated to doing what you love, romanticize your life, just for you. You might just fall in love with your own company. And really, if you wouldn’t date you, why would anyone else?
